Kairos Inside Wacol

About Us

The Kairos Inside Wacol Regional Committee has conducted 19 short courses in the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre at Wacol since 2010 – A remand facility opened in 1992 built to accommodate 890 males – twice a year, six months apart. Reunion programs were run monthly following each short course.

Arthur Gorrie had been operated under contract by GEO Group Services up until 2019 when it reverted to being run by Queensland Corrective Services. Kairos has not continued in this facility since 2020 due to the spaces Kairos used no longer being available.

Currently, the same committee runs short courses in the Wolston Correctional Centre operated by Queensland Correctional Services. It is a maximum security facility providing a program of industry employment for its inmates we call residents. To date, 13 short courses have been held here with Reunions every four weeks to build an ongoing Christian community of graduates who influence other residents.

Kairos Inside Prayer Vigil

We encourage any Christians to join us in prayer for those to whom we share Jesus in the prison.  It is a wonderful thing for the inmates attending to see that so many people who do not even know them, are upholding them in prayer 24 hours a day during the week. Please add your name as many times as you wish.
