I am excited to share with you an update on Kairos Inside Goulburn. They have just completed their first Journey program in one of the maximum security units and have a wonderful first hand testimony of God doing amazing things. Enjoy reading KI Goulburn Chair Ed’s update – Deb.
Praise God for our first Journey program in Max, it was wonderful. We had 12 inmates from unit 2 who were engaged and participated well throughout the time together.
The guards were very supportive, actually bringing in the inmates some 15 minutes before the scheduled time of 12.30pm. That allowed us enough time for a meet and greet.
Ed presented a 5 minute overview of Kairos. Nick on guitar and Tony S on the squeeze box lead the music, we initially sang the original “Amazing Grace” then “I have decided to follow Jesus”. Singing was pretty good considering this was their first time.
Stephen No 1 opened in prayer, Ed gave a 6 minute talk on “God’s saving Grace”. We then broke up into 4 discussion groups, with the majority of inmates being eager to get involved. They also managed to eat us out of all cakes and biscuits. We ended with a final song of “Jesus is the rock” and a closing prayer by Steve 13.
The chaplains Dan and Tony S did a fantastic job getting this program off the deck. The Kairos team of 8- Brian A, Steve 13, Ed, Stuart, Stephen No1, Chris H, Nick and Stephen No 2 really worked well together.
At the end we were thanked personally by many, if not all of the inmates who said that they will be at the next Journey program. God willing, we will be back in Max on the 14th August working with Unit 2 inmates.
Please continue to pray for the Kairos ministry. It is so encouraging to see God working in so many lives at the Goulburn facility.
Blessings,
